FAQs
Who is behind this project?
This is a personal project of James Lang and Katie Tzanidou. We’re both long-time UX researchers and managers, who care about the future of our industry. James is part of the Together By Design collective, while Katie is UX Research Director at Google.
What's informing your point of view?
Our perspective is informed by the mass of information that's being published on this topic (research industry, AI and job market more generally), by interviews with thought leaders, and by our own work as research directors with 50+ years of combined experience.

We offer the documents we've been reading in our sources list.
What are the vignettes?
Vignettes are our way of highlighting emerging directions that research could evolve in. Of course, some practitioners are already operating in this ways - our purpose is to shine a light on them and offer potential routes for others to follow.
Can I quote your outputs?
All of the outputs are free to use under Creative Commons license CC BY-SA 4.0. We just require you to attribute them to Hopeful Futures for UX Research in doing so.
Can I create my own article or interpretation based on your synthesis?
By all means. Your interpretation of the synthesis may differ from ours: a plurality of voices and analyses is welcome. Please be sure to credit it, and let us know what you come up with!
